Booking

Sargasso is a small wine bar with food, consisting of counter seating and high window tables, nestled against the sea wall of Margate’s harbour arm.

Reservations

Bookings can be made online for up to 6 guests, up to 60 days in advance.
Please note we are not currently accepting bookings for groups larger than 6 on weekends.
Debit/credit card details are required at the time of booking; cancellations within 24 hours or no-shows will incur a £20pp fee.

During the warmer months, our outdoor tables are kept unreserved and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Reservations for 1–2 guests have a 1.5 hour return time; groups of 3 or more have 1 hour 45 minutes.

We warmly welcome families with children. Due to limited space, buggies may not always be accommodated — please ensure they don’t block walkways or other guests. Let us know of any special arrangements when booking.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome! We just ask they stay with you at all times and don’t obstruct pathways or nearby tables.

We are committed to the Code of Best Practice on Service Charges, Tips, Gratuities and Cover Charges.

This restaurant adds a discretionary 12.5% service charge to customers’ bills, which is shared between the staff in the restaurant, through a system controlled by an independent Tronc Master.

Please note, our restaurant is a unique building on Margate’s stone pier, often weathered by the ebb and flow of the North Sea. It is a wonderful space that can at times be challenging to keep open when impacted by prevailing weather conditions. For this reason, please be aware when you book with us we may occasionally have to cancel at short notice.

We have procured a dedicated prestige portaloo for Sargasso customer use. Unfortunately these toilets do not have disabled access. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

GROUPS & PRIVATE DINING

For larger private bookings we can offer seating for up to 24 guests for lunch or dinner, as well as standing receptions for up to 30 guests. For more information please have a look at our private hire pack.

100% of all the discretionary service charge, card or cash tips which you choose to pay is shared between the staff in the restaurant. It is shared out to staff through a system controlled by an independent Tronc Master.
