Sargasso is a small wine bar with food, consisting of counter seating and high window tables, nestled against the sea wall of Margate’s harbour arm.
Reservations can only be made for up to 4 guests due to the fixed nature of our tables. Bookings of two will be sat at our bar counter.
Walk-ins are always welcome and encouraged; we will hold back a couple of spots each day for our locals and passers-by.
During the warmer months and when weather permits, we can seat walk-ins and larger groups at our outside tables.
Please note all reservations will have a return time of 1.5 hours.
Well behaved dogs are welcome inside and outside.
For larger private bookings we can offer seating for up to 24 guests for lunch or dinner, as well as standing receptions for up to 30 guests. For more information please contact us on enquiries@sargasso.bar.
Please note, our restaurant is a unique building on Margate’s stone pier, often weathered by the ebb and flow of the North Sea. It is a wonderful space that can at times be challenging to keep open when impacted by prevailing weather conditions. For this reason, please be aware when you book with us we may occasionally have to cancel at short notice.
The harbour arm toilets, which are the facilities for all businesses on the pier are currently closed for refurbishment. During this time we have procured a dedicated prestige portaloo for Sargasso customer use. Unfortunately these toilets do not have disabled access.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
