Booking

Sargasso is a small wine bar with food, consisting of counter seating and high window tables, nestled against the sea wall of Margate’s harbour arm.

Our books are now open for New Years Eve and New Years day 2025.

Reservations

Reservations can now be made online for up to 6 guests and we open our books 60 days in advance. When booking you will be asked for your debit/credit card details, and cancellations within 24 hours and no shows will be charged a £20pp fee.

For bookings on the day or if you are unable to book online please email us at enquiries@sargasso.bar or call us on 01843 229270 between 10-12 and 15-17. We do also encourage walk ins and keep all our outdoor tables in the warmer months for walk-ins on a first come first serve basis.

Please note all reservations up to 2 guests will have a return time of 1.5 hours.
All bookings of 3 or more guests will have a return time of 1.45h.

Well behaved dogs are welcome inside and outside.

We are committed to the Code of Best Practice on Service Charges, Tips, Gratuities and Cover Charges.

This restaurant adds a discretionary 12.5% service charge to customers’ bills, which is shared between the staff in the restaurant, through a system controlled by an independent Tronc Master.

Please note, our restaurant is a unique building on Margate’s stone pier, often weathered by the ebb and flow of the North Sea. It is a wonderful space that can at times be challenging to keep open when impacted by prevailing weather conditions. For this reason, please be aware when you book with us we may occasionally have to cancel at short notice.

We have procured a dedicated prestige portaloo for Sargasso customer use. Unfortunately these toilets do not have disabled access. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

GROUPS & PRIVATE DINING

For larger private bookings we can offer seating for up to 24 guests for lunch or dinner, as well as standing receptions for up to 30 guests. For more information please have a look at our private hire pack.

100% of all the discretionary service charge, card or cash tips which you choose to pay is shared between the staff in the restaurant. It is shared out to staff through a system controlled by an independent Tronc Master.
