Welcome to Sargasso – a coastal-inspired wine bar and restaurant nestled on the sea wall of Margate’s harbour arm, where seasonal, ingredient-led cooking takes centre stage.

Our small, informal space offers counter seating and high window tables, perfect for soaking up the Margate sun and skyline or seeking refuge from the wild North Sea coast. Sargasso celebrates seafood and vegetables, with a menu designed to be shared, reflecting the Mediterranean and European coasts, all sourced locally and prepared with a global perspective.

Since opening in 2021, we’ve been proud to offer a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere, ideal for an aperitif and snack or a leisurely meal with friends. Our wine and drinks list is crafted with the seasons in mind, perfectly complementing the ever-changing menu.

With the recent addition of Will Gleave as Chef Patron, expect an evolving menu that includes more bites, fried snacks, and daily-changing dishes focusing on fresh seafood and vibrant vegetables. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual bite or working your way through the menu, there’s always something new to explore at Sargasso.

LEO’S-ON-SEA 8TH JUNE 2025

We’re excited to welcome Peppe Belvedere from Leo’s for a one-day Leo’s-on-Sea takeover on Sunday, 8th June!

Lunch runs 12–4pm , with the bar open all day. From 6pm, Jerry & Ruggamuffin take over the sound system while Peppe serves up snacks, Sargasso Sunday style—no booking needed for the evening.
